Client Overview
A Local Chamber of Commerce supports local businesses and community engagement through events, advocacy, and collaboration. One of their signature events is the annual traditional fishing derby, which brings together local families, businesses, and visitors.
The Challenge
With limited resources and no dedicated social media team, the Chamber needed visually appealing content to promote their events and increase participation, particularly for their key annual event, the fishing derby.
Our Approach
I stepped in to support by creating branded, eye-catching social media posts to promote the derby. I also provided coaching to the Executive Director on how to use relevant hashtags to increase reach and engagement, despite common claims that hashtags no longer drive visibility.
The Outcome
A few days after implementing our designs and hashtag strategy on Instagram, the Executive Director reported that she believed it contributed to at least one or two additional boat registrations. The Chamber now has a more confident grasp on how to present their events online and has templates they can reuse in the future.
What We Learned
Small changes in content strategy — especially when paired with coaching — can have a direct impact on real-world outcomes, even with limited budgets or time. Empowering small organizations with simple tools is part of how we make marketing accessible.
